The new and improved EU rules on novel foods
White paper spotlighting the changes to European Union (EU) legislation on novel foods.
The new EU rules on novel foods means a more centralised and faster process to get new products on the EU market. With ten novel food categories, two new novel food authorisation processes and a new Union list on novel foods, it may not be easy to understand whether a product would be considered novel or not and what approval procedure need to be followed. The new EU novel food regime is still in its infancy but the revised procedures look promising. One of our Senior Regulatory Consultants, Annie-Laure Robin, spotlights the changes.
